Teaching British Values
Robinson Auditorium
'Prevent couldn’t, pardon the pun, do enough to prevent tragedy. Respect will. And after all, what teacher hasn’t wished that children wouldn’t learn more respect?'
Books are being banned. Students are being sent to specialist behavioural units for; their only crime is reading. Teachers are being forced to stay silent. The world is changing and freedom is the price of safety. When Jessica reads a banned book, her whole life is changed as she realizes the system she is in is designed to oppress her, not protect her. She finds herself with a single teacher as her ally, against not only her whole school, but the government at large. She’s determined to fight, she’s determined to be brave. Everyone else is determined to silence her.
